- Please tell us the events leading to your purchasing your camper van.

We always departed during the night when we went traveling, but it was difficult to get any decent sleep in an Alphard, particularly with three children. So we wanted to purchase a camper van that allows us to sleep on a flat surface and that is the reason why we purchased a vamper van.

We initially purchased a ROBO (* currently no longer in production) and as our second camper van we purchased the GT. We originally purchased a camper van with the intention of sleeping in the vehicle, but as we got introduced to camping by friends who camp, we started to camp here and there as well.

- Why were you departing at night?

We would often get trapped in traffic jams when we leave in the morning and I wanted to avoid that, plus if we leave at night there is no need to book accommodation. When I get a day off the next day all of a sudden, we still can go. When there is rain also, we can change our destination, so we started leaving at night.

- How did you find out about Toy-Factory?

I read about it in a magazine, called the "Camping Car Magazine". I was living in Aichi Prefecture, so when I found out that Toy-Factory was located in Gifu Prefecture, I decided to go and visit. Once I actually saw a camper van I noticed how beautifully it was made and I was quite impressed.

- Can 5 people sleep in a GT?

The GT is intended for four adults, so it is becoming a bit tight now that our children have grown, but when they were still small we split up to upper and lower levels and three children lined next to each other as they slept.

The good thing about this vehicle is that with ordinary models the meal space must be cleared before the sleeping space can be readied. In case of this vehicle, however, the beds are out at all times and are separate from the meal space, so the meal space does not need to be cleared before getting to bed and that is very convenient.

- What is your lifestyle like, with a camper van?

It's really fun! I can visit a variety of places with our children and we have a lot of memories and all this is just so much fun.

We went to Hokkaido twice since we purchased our camper van. Hokkaido is just tops no matter how many times we go there. We traveled to Shikoku and Kyushu as well, with this vehicle.

I remember we went and had some crabs in Hokuriku on a whim. Sometimes we would go all of a sudden when children have their days off, and that allows us to give our children a variety of things to experience, so I am glad that we purchased our camper van.

- What is the best memory you made as a family with the camper van?

Traveling to Hokkaido, of course!!! We loaded our vehicle on a ferry to get there.

Driving on roads that just goes straight as far as you can see, on that extensive land makes me feel good just driving there.  We visited Cape Soyamisaki at the northern tip at Wakkanai as well. We basically plan nothing and just go wherever we feel like and if that turns out to be not much fun then we just cut the trip short and come home, we travel you know, just play it by ear and that can be a lot of fun for us (laugh).

Meals were tasty and that was a deeply memorable trip. We definitely had most fun.

When the oldest child was still in elementary school we used to go camping during summer and had fun on the river. As we visit different places, we become closer with our children.

- Can you offer some advice to those of us who might be considering purchasing a camper van?

You must absolutely purchase a camper van early! When children grow up, you will find less opportunity to have enough time to spend with the children, so I recommend that a camper van be purchases while children are still small.

Even if it stretches you a bit to buy it, the earlier you buy the more memories you will make and more experiences you will be able to give your children.

Once the children no longer want to join you, you can still have fun with other grownups, get together and go on camping or traveling, so it is possible to have fun just with adults as well.
